FOOD poisoning caused by the E-coli bacterium fell by 50% in Scotland last year but the incidence here was still higher than anywhere else in the world, it was revealed yesterday at a Glasgow lecture by Professor Hugh Pennington, who led the committee which investigated the Wishaw outbreak. The incidence was 11 cases per 100,000 population while other countries would be worried if they had two per 100,000.
