LORD Wallace of Campsie, one of Scotland's most outstanding businessmen, has died at the age of 82

He was a founder member of the Scottish Development Agency, and when chairman of East Kilbride Development Corporation was widely acknow-ledged for steering the new town to success as an attractive location for businesses to take root and expand.

He established the firm Wallace Cameron and Company, which manufactures first aid dressings and holds three Royal Warrants.

A former member of the International Bar Association, he was awarded a life peerage in 1974. Among the charities which he supported included the Salvation Army, which in 1992 named Wallace of Campsie House in his honour and recognition of service given to help the homeless and destitute
