A PIONEERING clinic aimed at saving the lives of unborn babies of diabetic women has been set up at the Royal Infirmary, Glasgow.

The babies are five times more likely to die at birth and the rate of serious handicap is six times higher.

Now a team of doctors including leading diabetic specialists consultant obstetrician Dr Burnett Lunan and consultant physician Dr Angus MacCuish, are working to establish a safe route through pregnancy by ensuring insulin levels are kept within safe bounds.
