The tiny Scottish radio station that broadcasts a summer midge count instead of a pollen count, is quitting the tin shack that has been home for years. LochBroom FM in Ullapool, Wester Ross, is staging a grand opening of its new headquarters on Saturday.

The station was hit by lightning earlier this year and equipment worth #70,000 destroyed. ''We managed to keep broadcasting using spare parts from all over the place,'' said manager Steve Boyle. ''Thank goodness our insurance was first class.''
