A COUPLE yesterday issued a plea for their missing son to get in touch.

Mr Kenneth Jones, 18, has not been seen since vanishing from the home of his father, Mr Allan Jones and his wife, Marryann, in Ancrum Court, Glenrothes, last Tuesday.

Mr Jones said: ''To say we are worried is an understatement.''

As police with tracker dogs resumed an extensive search of the area, Mr Jones said he had no idea why Kenneth had left home.

Mr Jones said unemployed Kenneth had been in the house at 1am but when he got up at 7am, his son's room was empty.

''When Kenneth did not come home in the evening we got concerned but thought he was staying over at a friend's house, which he has done before. It wasn't till the next day that we contacted the police,'' said Mr Jones.

Kenneth is six feet two inches tall, slim with short, centre-parted, dark brown hair and grey-blue eyes. He is believed to have been wearing a black blouson-style zip front jacket, black jeans, a T-shirt and yellow and black trainers.

A Fife police spokesman appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.

q A weekend search failed to find a woman missing in South west Scotland for the past five days.

The Nith Inshore Rescue Boat joined police, coastguards and volunteers to comb the River Nith. It is feared that Mrs Dorothy Houliston, 59, may have drowned in the river only a few hundred yards from the family home in Edinburgh Road.
