EAST Kilbride created one of the biggest upsets in the Velvet Cup when they beat Dundee HSFP 28-24. Before a big crowd they found themselves 12-8 behind at half time scoring a try through Peter Pattenden and a Gordon Steven penalty.

Early in the second half Steven kicked a second penalty and tries followed from Andy Welsh, Colin Stewart and Craig Steven. Then with five minutes left Chris Milne added a second try which again was converted by Neil Paterson. Dundee's other tries came from Dougie Gray and Stuart Pearson.

West of Scotland led Glasgow Southern 24-10 at the turn. However, after the break Southern's scrumhalf Richard McKnight grabbed his second try. Scott Gerry's touchdown was converted by Erin Cossey to make it 31-22, but Southern ran out of steam and West ground out a 38-12 win with a penalty try.

Musselburgh led Currie 24-5 at half time, but right on time Currie's David Clark touched down to tie the score at 27-27. Then in extra time two penalties and a trysaw Currie home by 38-27.

Kilmarnock beat Biggar 13-0 with touchdowns from Kevin Pattie and Robbie Stewart, who also kicked the first half penalty.

Gordonians and Stirling County were evenly matched at Bridgehaugh, until Craig Sangster scored a wonderful try 10 minutes from the end. Stirling went on to win 25-14.

Strathendrick found it tough going against Watsonians who won 41-0. Glasgow Hawks went down 39-10 at Aberdeen GSFP, while Dalziel were well beaten 50-10 by Edinburgh Accies.
