ELEVEN teenagers were arrested in a series of dawn raids in the Glasgow area yesterday as part of a crackdown by Scotland's biggest police force to reduce gang violence.

Members of Strathclyde Police's special anti-gang taskforce, accompanied by officers from Clydebank and Drumchapel, raided several houses around 7am in connection with two gang-related incidents near the A82 Drumry roundabout at Great Western Road and Drumry Road East, and in Kirkoswald Drive, Clydebank.

The youths, aged 13 to 18, are alleged to have formed part of a disorderly crowd by engaging in fighting between April 6 and April 14.

A force spokeswoman said one of the 11 youths was detained and was expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday. The 10 others will be the subject of reports to the procurator-fiscal.
