PETER CANERO, the Dundee United midfielder, is to undergo a scan after picking up a knee problem in training on Friday.

Gordon Chisholm, his manager, said: "Peter stubbed his knee and the injury has not settled down the way we would have liked. We think it is best that he goes for a scan."

A calf strain could rule fellow midfielder Grant Brebner out of Saturday's game with Motherwell, the first of a run of fixtures where Chisholm has challenged his side to accumulate points.

He added: "We have been through an extremely difficult series of games, but we are now about to play teams who are not up there in the top areas of the league and we must start to look at getting some points now."
