SIX people have appeared in court in connection with an alleged "happy slapping" sex assault on a teenage girl.

The six, aged between 16 and 20, were arrested after the filming by camera phone of an assault against a 14-year-old girl at a party in Glasgow last month.

The Crown Office confirmed a report that five had been charged with indecent assault and one with rape and that all six were bailed.

On Friday at Glasgow Sheriff Court Mohammed Khan, 17, of Carfin, Lanarkshire, made no plea or declaration to a charge of rape. He was also charged with making and distributing indecent digital images as well as breach of the peace.

Tom Sier, 20, of Govanhill, Glasgow, made no plea or declaration when he appeared in private on petition earlier this month, charged with indecent assault.

On Thursday Dimitri Fescenko, 16, made no plea or declaration as he was charged with committing an indecent assault and having sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 16 .

On Monday, three more youths made no plea or declaration as they appeared in private in the same court.

Dean Bowman, 17, of Bellshill, Lanarkshire, was charged with indecent assault. He was also charged with committing an unlawful sexual assault on a person aged under 16 while the person was in an unconscious state and making and distributing indecent images.

Daniel Halliday, 16, also of Bellshill, was charged with committing indecent assault and making and distributing indecent images.

Edgar Kudzhoyan, 19, of Knightswood, Glasgow, was charged with indecent assault and making and distributing indecent images.
