Partick Thistle yesterday made reserve goalkeeper Kevin Budinauckas (above) redundant ''to free up finance to assist with the current football position''.

On behalf of the board of directors, a club spokesman said: ''It has been forced upon the club because of tight finances and the pressures of the modern game. Having carried out a detailed review, the board came to the conclusion that the actions of clubs in administration provides major advantages for all clubs. No further statement will be issued meantime.''

Thistle, who last week signed another goalkeeper, Jamie Langfield, have been vociferous in their criticism of Motherwell and Dundee, both in administration, being allowed to bring in new players having made others redundant.
