ASDA entered the cola wars yesterday with the launch of the ''first
fully UK premium cola''. The supermarket chain says its latest own-brand
drink is the only cola invented, produced, and canned in the UK. Earlier
this year, Sainsbury dramatically raised the supermarket cola stakes
with the launch of Classic Cola. The move irked Coca-Cola which insisted
that the superstore altered the design of red and white cans because it
felt consumers were confusing Classic with ''the real thing''. Asda said
its new cola also came in red and white tins -- but stressed they were
not meant to be ''lookalikes''.
