AN inquiry began yesterday into Monday night's incident in Edinburgh

when an unmanned fire engine crashed into 12 cars and the windows of a

restaurant. A police spokesman said Department of Transport officials

were also involved in the inquiry. A brigade spokesman said the

vehicle's five crew members had been attending a car fire at Gayfield

Square. The fire engine crossed Leith Walk and hit a bus stop and the

cars before smashing into the Jolly Pizzeria restaurant in Elm Row.
