Police launched a murder inquiry yesterday after the death of a 23-year-old man in Glasgow.

Christopher Munro, of Inverness Street, Drumoyne, was discovered with serious injuries in a house in Inverness Street just after midnight on Sunday. He was taken to the Southern General Hospital but died yesterday afternoon.

Detective Inspector Willie Coyle said he was trying to establish Mr Munro's last movements before midnight.

He said: "Our inquiries have revealed that he had been drinking in the Gazelle Bar in Govan Road, Linthouse, and had left there at about 11.45pm. We also believe that when he left the bar he may have met a male called Rab. It is vital that we trace this man and speak to him."

He also appealed for anyone who was in Mr Munro's company on Sunday or who has information that could trace his killer to contact police.

Mr Munro was ordered by Lord Cameron at the High Court in Glasgow in December 1999 to be detained in a young offenders' institution for four years after fracturing the skull of John McDermott.

Alexander Williams was ordered to carry out 240 hours community service after he admitted hitting Mr McDermott with a golf club as he lay helpless.
