MODEL railway enthusiasts from across the UK arrived in Glasgow yesterday for the annual Model Rail Scotland event.

Thousands of modelling fans packed the SECC for this year's event, which is the biggest ever held north of the Border.

More than 50 different layouts are featured in the show, including a scale recreation of Paisley Central Station, as well as a number of stalls selling everything from replica steam engines to miniature towns and villages.

Around 30 Scottish clubs from as far apart as Aberdeen and Dumfries are exhibiting at this year's exhibition, which runs until tomorrow across two halls.

As well as checking out the latest developments in their hobby, enthusiasts will also compete to produce the best model locomotive on show.

Trophies are also awarded for the best piece of model rolling stock, and the best overall scene or architectural model.
