THE 10-year restoration of the Forth Rail Bridge has been completed with the unveiling of a monument to workers by First Minister Alex Salmond.

To mark the completion of the work, which cost £130 million, Network Rail and contractor Balfour Beatty supported a campaign to remember those who have worked on the bridge, known as Briggers, during its 129-year history.

Mr Salmond unveiled two monuments by artist Gordon Muir, one at either end of the bridge. Both memorials bear the names, ages and occupations of the 73 men who died while building the bridge.
