WEB users are to get an intimate look at the breeding season of one of Scotland's smallest birds of prey.

A CCTV camera will capture all the action from a sparrowhawk nest in the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.

Last year, thousands of people visited the Date With Nature initiative in the John Hope Gateway to watch an adult pair raise six healthy chicks.

This month, the project returned and for the first time, virtual visitors will be able to follow the action too, as the footage will be streamed online.

Cameras have already recorded the female adult incubating six eggs, expected to hatch in the coming weeks.

Claire Powell, project officer, said: "We're urging hawk-eyed viewers to keep us informed when they see anything interesting. We don't want to miss a thing."
