SCOTLAND'S top golfers have been urged by the Scottish Wildlife Trust to boycott certain holes when they play at Donald Trump's golf resort in Aberdeenshire.

The Trust's director of conservation, Jonny Hughes, has written to Colin Montgomerie, Paul Lawrie and Martin Laird asking them to refuse to play holes built on land that was within the Foveran Links Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

Mr Hughes said: "We have written asking them to protect the reputation of golf by sending a clear message that environmentally destructive golf course projects such as Trump's should have no place in Scotland."

The trio will tee off for an inaugural round on the Menie Estate course tomorrow.
