An investigation is under way after the bodies of two young men were found in a house.

Residents in Blantyre, South Lanarkshire, heard screams when the mother of one of the men returned home to discover the bodies.

The men have been named as 21-year-old Dominic Patterson, who lived at the house, and his 25-year-old friend Colin Campbell.

The Scottish Ambulance Service said it sent out two ambulances to the incident, but they were not required as both men were already dead.

Police said the deaths, on Tuesday, were unexplained but not suspicious, with toxicology tests due to be carried out.

A spokeswoman for Strathclyde Police said "Inquiries are at an early stage and post-mortem examinations will be carried out to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the deaths."

A neighbour said children were playing near to the house when the bodies were found."No one could have imagined what had happened," she said.
