A major auction of Scottish art is expected to reach the £1 million mark.

Two works by Scottish Colourists could sell for more than £250,000 at the Bonhams Edinburgh Scottish sale on April 17.

Samuel Peploe's Still Life, Roses and Chinese Blue from 1924 has an estimate of £250,000-350,000 and features his trademark items such as roses, a Chinese vase, fruit and crockery.

His Blue & White Vase, Roses, Melon and Orange is estimated at £150,000-250,000.

The sale of the private collection includes pictures by fellow Colourists FCB Cadell and Leslie Hunter.

The auction will also feature work by the Glasgow Boys, artists from the Edinburgh School, Joan Eardley and Alison Watt.
