THE family of convicted drug dealer suffered a terrifying ordeal when they were tied up and robbed in their home.

Four women and three children – aged two, three and five – were in their luxurious hillside mansion, called Rockwood, in East Renfrewshire, when two men came to their door.

The men forced their way inside the property in Hillside Road, near Barrhead, and tied up the women, during the daylight attack.

After raiding the house – in the quiet street dubbed millionaire's row – the raiders grabbed around £2000 and left.

Detectives believe the robbery at the family home of Sultan Mohammed, which took place at about 12.50pm on Thursday, was not a random attack.

Detective Inspector Ian Hylands, from Greater Glasgow CID, said: "This was a terrifying experience for the family concerned. Thankfully the occupants of the house were not seriously injured however, it is imperative that we trace the two individuals responsible."

Mohammed was jailed in 2011 for more than five years after an investigation by the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency found he was importing cocaine and heroin from England.

Prosecutors described him as "a key player in a large west of Scotland drugs ring, which operated nationally".

However, Mr Mohammed was not found with cash or drugs in his possession by the agency's operation.

The suspects are described as white, with Scottish accents.
