THE first play by Scotland's national theatre to appear in London's West End will be its recent production Let The Right One In.
Leading theatre producer Bill Kenwright, best known for shows including Blood Brothers and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, is taking the National Theatre of Scotland (NTS) play down to London next year with producer Marla Rubin.
Let The Right One In premiered at Dundee Rep Theatre in June. Before being staged at an as-yet-unnamed West End theatre, it will have a run at the Royal Court Theatre – which is now headed by former NTS director Vicky Featherstone – from the end of November to December 21.
John Tiffany's production of John Ajvide Lindqvist's novel and screenplay will then make the London West End debut of the NTS.
Kenwright has produced more than 300 productions in the West End and on Broadway as well as being chairman of Everton Football Club.
The production won glowing reviews following its premiere in Dundee. The Herald said the story, familiar to many through two movies based on the novel, was "exquisitely realised".
Theatre critic Neil Cooper, said: "As Tiffany's final production for the NTS at least for the time being, this moving and haunting piece of work is the loveliest going-away present he could have given."
Tiffany, the director of Black Watch and a former associate director at the NTS is now associate director at the Royal Court Theatre.
Let The Right One In has been announced as part of Ms Featherstone's inaugural season.
Rebecca Benson is returning in the part of the mysterious child Eli and the rest of the cast will be announced shortly.
Lindqvist's original 2004 novel Let the Right One In and Tomas Alfredson's subsequent 2008 film of the same name, also written by Lindqvist, have both received widespread critical acclaim.
The NTS production of The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart is also playing at the Royal Court.
