A GANGLAND thug who once kidnapped two Rangers players is back behind bars after trying to smuggle £40,000 of drugs.

Ryan Moore, 25, was caught after a package from the Netherlands addressed to him was intercepted by a UK Border Force team in January this year. The Jiffy-style envelope contained the stimulant pentedrone - often known as "bath salts".

It came just weeks after Moore took part in a handover of the class-B drug in Edinburgh. The dealer was jailed for six years and nine months at the High Court in Glasgow after he admitted being concerned in the supply of pentedrone.

Moore previously made headlines in 2010 when he and Paul Hislen abducted and threatened to kill the then teenage Ibrox football players Kyle Hutton and Kal Naismith in the capital.

Moore's drugs arrest came after Border Force staff at a parcel depot in Birmingham picked up an envelope marked for him at an address in Edinburgh.

Tests showed the substance was pentedrone with a potential value of £40,660. The court heard Moore accepted responsibility for the parcel.

In 2010, Moore and Paul Hislen abducted and robbed Hutton and Naismith. They forced them off the street in Edinburgh and bundled them into Hutton's Audi before Moore drove off. The footballers were eventually freed after being forced to hand over cash.

Moore was locked up for 40 months at Edinburgh Sheriff Court after pleading guilty to the kidnapping.
