Two Burmese doctors picked to fill a staffing gap at a struggling hospital have had job offers withdrawn - after they failed an English test.
They were chosen by NHS Lothian to work in a children's ward at St John's Hospital in Livingston, West Lothian. The doctors were selected after being interviewed over the internet but failed a test administered by the British Council, which is a requirement to register with the General Medical Council.
