A RANGERS fan has been banned from attending football matches for two years after making a Nazi salute in front of children attending an Old Firm youth cup final.

Kevin Brannigan, 28, made the gesture at the Celtic v Rangers under-17s Glasgow Cup match at Firhill Stadium on April 29.

Around 6000 people attended the match, including school children and families, police said.

Brannigan, from Glasgow, was filmed by police making the Nazi salute towards Celtic fans.

He pleaded guilty to the offence and was given a two-year football banning order at Glasgow Sheriff court yesterday.

Stephen Ferguson, football liaison prosecutor for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, said Brannigan's actions were unacceptable in any environment.
