THE family of a teenager whose body was recovered from a river after a night out with friends have described him as "gentle-natured", popular and outgoing.

Tommy Brown, 17, had become separated from his friends on a night out in Fife last Friday.

His body was found by police divers in the River Leven, Methil, on Monday afternoon.

His family had become increasingly concerned and he was reported missing to police on Saturday.

A statement released through Police Scotland on behalf of his family said: "Tommy will be sadly missed by his parents Betsy and Tommy and siblings Hughie, Elizabeth Anne, Mary, Patricia, Dean and sister-in-law Janet.He will be sadly missed by his family and we are requesting to be given privacy to grieve."
