A MAN who threatened to stab a sheriff and "turn him into a human teabag" as he was being led from the dock of a court has been jailed for 16 months.

Steven Gourdie, 24, was appearing at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on July 18 this year to be sentenced for his part in an attempted robbery.

But when Sheriff James Williamson told him he was to be remanded in custody for background reports Gourdie started shouting and swearing, twice saying he wanted to stab the sheriff before making the threat to "turn him into a human teabag".

Sheriff Christopher Shead jailed Gourdie for 16 months, a sentence to be served consecutively to his current term of four years in HMP Perth for the attempted robbery.
