Actor John Gordon Sinclair, best known for his leading role in the movie Gregory's Girl, is to make his debut on the Glasgow stage with an adaptation of PG Wodehouse's Jeeves and Wooster.

He will appear in Perfect Nonsense at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow from November 24 to 29.

Sinclair is playing the role of the butler Jeeves, alongside James Lance as Wooster, in the award-winning play, which has seen success in London's West End.

The actor, from Glasgow, said: "Being a family man I was somewhat reluctant for Jeeves & Wooster to leave the West End and go on tour, but for one thing … I knew the show was going to Glasgow.

"I haven't been on stage in Scotland in over 30 years and if I'd dreamt up the scenario myself I couldn't have imagined a better situation.

"There's no city I'd rather be playing, there's no show I'd rather be doing...The Goodale Brother's Jeeves & Wooster is a belter."

In 1995 Sinclair won the Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his performance in She Loves Me and he also recently played Professor Marcus in the West End run of The Ladykillers. His other stage credits include The Producers, Absurd Person Singular and The Invisible Man.

Best known on screen for the 1981 Bill Forsyth movie Gregory's Girl, he also recently appeared alongside Brad Pitt in the zombie thriller World War Z.

His debut novel Seventy Times Seven was published in 2012.

Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense won the award for Best New Comedy at the 2014 Olivier Awards.

Perfect Nonsense is written by Robert and David Goodale and directed by Sean Foley.
