AN award-winning businessman's firms are being pursued for more than £600,000 in unpaid bills.

Hermann Twickler, 44, is facing court actions against his companies as moves were made by creditors to appoint a liquidator to his steel fabrication firm Houstons of Cupar Ltd in Fife.

He had bought the company less than a year ago for £120,000.

Robert and Carol Kay, who own Houstons' factory premises, claim they are due £480,000 in unpaid rent. Five other court actions are being pursued by other firms.

Mr Twickler said: "I've nothing to hide. Most of my creditors have been offered settlement."

Liquidator Matt Henderson, of Johnston Carmichael, said: "Mr Twickler has said he will cooperate."
