Teenager cautioned over offensive bin lorry crash tweet
A teenager who used social media to post offensive comments about the fatal bin lorry crash in Glasgow has been given a caution by police.
Ross Loraine, 19, from Sunderland, was arrested after a number of complaints were made about his post on Twitter just hours after six people died in the tragedy on December 22.
He is alleged to have written: "So a bin lorry has crashed into 100 people in Glasgow eh, probably the most trash its ever picked up in one day that."
Northumbria Police said he had been arrested on suspicion of making a malicious communication, after he had handed himself in following the outcry.
A police spokesman said: "A 19-year-old man has been given a caution for making a malicious communication."
