A PLANE has made an emergency landing at Aberdeen Airport.
Emergency services including police, fire and ambulance services were scrambled to the runway to meet the aircraft on arrival.
The Eastern Airways Jetstream 41, with around 30 passengers on board, had departed from the airport bound for Newcastle less than half an hour earlier.
Crews hosed down one of the engines of the small plane on the runway while the passengers were evacuated to the terminal.
An Aberdeen Airport spokeswoman said: "An Eastern Airways flight declared an emergency.
"It was heading to Newcastle but had to turn back round.
"But it landed safely at 4.45pm and the runway was unavailable very briefly while we cleared it of the aircraft.
"Fire crews met the aircraft as is standard procedure."
The Eastern Airways Jetstream 41 left the airport around 4.15pm heading to Newcastle.
But shortly into the 55 minute flight the pilot declared an emergency and turned back.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that three appliances, carrying around 15 firefighters, were sent from city stations at 4.40pm to assist the airport's own fire service.
Police and ambulance crews were also in attendance.
Flights were diverted briefly at Aberdeenas the plane was removed.
