Detectives are trying to identify a mystery man who was discovered with severe knife wounds when police and ambulance crews raced to the scene on FRiday morning.

Paramedics tried to revive the victim but he was declared dead soon afterwards in Midcroft Avenue, Croftfoot.

Emergency services were called at around 2.30am after the alarm was raised.

Police officers who were called to reports of a "disturbance" in the residential street arrived to find the man's butchered body lying in front of a house.

A source close to the investigation said: "He basically died as emergency services arrived.

"His injuries were so serious that any help would have been too late."
