A MAN killed during a violent street brawl in Glasgow’s East End has been named.
Paul McCarroll, 49, was attacked when a row broke out in Westmuir Street, Parkhead in the early hours of the morning.
Mr McCarroll lived in the street, according to police.
Police said a major investigation has been launched and the death was being treated as "suspicious".
Neighbours told how police swarmed the Parkhead area after the attack, which took place at around 12.40am today.
One resident said: "I was woken up by the flashing blue lights and sounds of police sirens.
"I couldn't see what was happening but the police were shouting at someone to show their hands.
"That's all I heard: "Show us your hands".
"It was very frightening."
Sources said police were called in by terrified neighbours who said two men with weapons were fighting in the street outside.

The victim was rushed to the city’s Royal Infirmary but died soon afterwards.
A huge police cordon was in place around Westmore Street, which stretched from the Gallowgate and entrances into nearby Burgher Street also remained taped off.
Residents told how officers descended on Burgher Street in the early hours of the morning and had been stationed at the scene ever since.
A neighbour said: "The street was full of police — it was scary.
"They appeared to be looking for something or someone."
The Evening Times understands police believe the killer may have ran along Burgher Street as he tried to flee the scene.
Police sources said detectives were "following a definite line of inquiry".
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “With reference to the suspicious death of a 49-year-old man following a disturbance in Westmuir St, Parkhead, Glasgow, around 0040 hours this morning, the deceased can now be named as Paul McCarroll, Westmuir St, Parkhead, Glasgow.
“Relatives are aware.”
Meanwhile, detectives are carrying out door-to-door inquiries and witnesses have been urged to come forward.
