The twin brother of killer John Leathem has been forced to leave his job after his past convicted for a sex attack emerged.

George Leathem, 32, had been working offshore on an oil rig with Aberdeen support maintaince company Bilfinger Salamis UK.

The labourer was left fearing for his safety after his brother revealed his sex attack conviction in court on Monday.

It has been reported that colleagues on the oil rig were unhappy once they had read press reports about his 2003 conviction which involved dragging a woman from a Glasgow street into the bushes where he sexually assaulted her.

Leatham agreed to take annual leave and faces an uncertain future.

He pled guilty to sexual assault and was put on the sex offenders' register and ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work.

A source told the Daily Record: “As soon as we read in the Record that George Leathem was a sex attacker, his time here was obviously not going to last much longer. To the guys here, he’s a beast."

Brother John Leathem is being held at Low Moss prison in Bishopbriggs following his court plea on Monday.

He will be sentenced next month for the murder of Clydebank teenager Paige Doherty.
