A new documentary starring former Rangers star Fernando Ricksen hopes to raise awareness and funds to make it into a feature film.

Fernando Ricksen, 40, has to be fed by his wife in footage from the new documentary showing his fight against motor neurone disease (MND).

The Rangers hero’s partner Veronika, 29, is also seen holding his hands as she slowly guides him out their house.

The footage is for a new Dutch documentary called “Fernando Ricksen: The Final Battle”, focusing on how his health has deteriorated since being diagnosed with the condition.

It emerged just days after airline bosses declared him too ill to fly to Glasgow for a tribute dinner, before later reversing their decision.

Biographer Vincent De Vries said that the former Rangers star, 40, wanted people to see how the disease had taken its toll on his body.

The film is due to be shown in his native Holland in the next few months and producers hope it will also be shown in the UK.

The two minute clip has been released in a bid to raise 20,000 Euros to make it into a feature film.

Members of the public are being asked to donate money to help fund it.
