The Berlin Wall has now been down as long as it stood. February 5, 2018 marked 10,316 days since the barrier was pulled down. Between 1961 and 1989, The Berlin Wall, built by the communist authorities of East Germany, divided capitalist West Berlin from communist East Berlin and came to symbolize the Cold War between the western Allies, led by the United States, and the Eastern Bloc, led by the Soviet Union.
