THERE was uncertainty over Alex Salmond’s TV show last night, as broadcaster RT failed to say if it would continue in light of criminal charges against the former first minister.
Mr Salmond has had a weekly programme on the Kremlin-backed channel since November 2017, five months after he lost his Westminster seat in the general election.
The Herald and other media outlets yesterday asked RT and the show’s production staff if it would be affected by Mr Salmond facing 14 charges, including two of attempted rape.
RT did not respond, while series director Luisa St John told The Herald: “I’m not at liberty to say anything. You can address it all to RT. I’m not at liberty to make any comment.”
Neither Mr Salmond not his business partner Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh responded to attempts to contact them.
It comes as First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is due to appear on the BBC’s Andrew Marr Show tomorrow.
The appearance was scheduled before Mr Salmond was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted rape, nine counts of sexual assault, two of indecent assault and one breach of the peace.
He strenuously refutes the charges.
