AN 89-year-old woman was knocked to the ground and left with a dislocated shoulder after thieves wrestled a shopping bag off her.

Police said the elderly woman was in a close in Onslow Drive, Dennistoun, on Friday when two men approached her and pulled her bag from her.

She was knocked to the ground and taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.

The two men ran off with her hessian bag - it had Celino's written across it - and it was found abandoned in Whitehill Street. Several items had been stolen from inside.

The first suspect was said to be white, with a gaunt appearance and a local accent. He is in his early 20s and around 5 ft 11 inches in height, with short black hair. He was wearing a blue tracksuit top with an orange t-shirt underneath and blue tracksuit trousers.

The second suspect is white, with a gaunt appearance and local accent. He is also in his early 20s and around 5 ft. 7 inches in height with short black hair. He was wearing a dark green or blue jacket and black jogging trousers.

Officers are carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area and are reviewing CCTV footage for any information.

Detective Constable Stephen McCabe said: “It’s imperative that we locate these two men, whose shameful actions left an 89 year old woman with a dislocated shoulder and in pain.

"I would urge anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to consider if they saw these two men, did you see them loitering around the street. Did you see them as they made off with the woman’s bag? If you think you know who these two men are or you have any information which could assist in our investigation, please do contact us.”
