The first acts for southern Scotland music festival Electric Fields have been revealed.

The Vaccines, Metronomy and Frank Turner are amongst the big names headed to Drumlanrig Castle near Thornhill in July.

Organisers have limited the event's audience to just 5,000 people, and promise three days of 'ace music, incredible street food and an intimate capacity all in the grounds of one of Scotland's most beautiful castles'.

An estimated £1.5m was generated by the event for the local economy last year after Noel Gallagher headlined.

Other acts taking to the stage this year include Friendly Fires, Sleaford Mods and Fat White Family.

The announcement comes just after DF Concerts revealed the line-up to TRNSMT, which was branded 'disappointing' by fans.

George Ezra, Stormzy and Snow Patrol are just a few of the names headlining the festival, and fans are not happy.

The festival has, in the past, played host to world-famous acts including Radiohead, Queen and The Killers.

Some social media users have said that this year's Electric Fields line-up trumps that of the Glasgow festival.
