Police have confirmed they are carrying out an investigation after an object was thrown at the Hearts goalkeeper. 

Footage has emerged that shows Hearts keeper Bobby Zlamal being targeted by a coin during the clash against Celtic at Tynecastle.

An object was thrown onto the pitch from the away end at Tynecastle as Zlamal took a goal kick.

The missile landed a few feet from the shot-stopper as he cleared the ball.

Celtic captain Scott Brown was also pictured picking up an object and giving it to referee Steven McLean post-match. 

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed a probe was underway: "Police in Edinburgh are currently investigating reports of sectarian singing that took place within Tynecastle Stadium on Wednesday 27th February.

"Inquiries into this matter are being led by Police Scotlands FOCUS unit.

"Police are also investigating reports of coins being thrown from the away stand during the SPFL match between Heart of Midlothian and Celtic that evening.

"Anyone with any relevant information in relation to these incidents should contact police immediately."

They added: ""We are aware of footage posted to social media taken in a premises prior to the fixture between Hearts and Celtic on Wednesday 27 February and will review this to establish if further action is required."
