A man fell from a window in a block of flats in Edinburgh yesterday, sparking a major police operation.

Officers were called to Calder Gardens in the capital at around 2.05pm.

The alarm had been raised that a man had fallen from a fourth-storey window.

Emergency services remained at the scene last night.

A police spokesman said: "Police were called to an address in the Calder Gardens area at 2.05pm following a report that a man had fallen from a fourth floor window.

"Emergency services remain at the scene and inquiries are ongoing."

It comes after a one-yearold girl died following her fall from a third-floor flat window in Clydebank.

Lexi Bergene fell from the building on Dumbarton Road last Wednesday.

She was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow but later died.
