Firefighters have returned to the scene of a major wildfire in Moray which destroyed more than 20 square miles of grassland after the blaze reignited.

It was said to have been dealt with by Thursday morning, but about six appliances have returned to the area around Knockando.

The battle to put out the wildfire, which has entered a fourth day, is thought to be one of the largest ever recorded in the UK.

It comes after the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service tackled several wildfires across the country in the past week, and issued warnings that Scotland faced a heightened wildfire threat over the Easter weekend.

They included a blaze on the Isle of Skye, that destroyed nearly five square miles of forestry and moorland are believed to be destroyed by a wildfire on the Isle of Skye. The fire which broke out near a windfarm is believed to have been started by a welding incident.
