Westlife's promoters have issued an apology to fans who were told they had to stand after buying prime seats at the SSE Hydro on Tuesday night.

The boy band are currently on their Twenty Tour of the UK and the Hydro released a statement telling fans that due to transport delays the seating layout for the show had to be changed so that a number of people who were due to be seated would be standing.

The venue said that anyone who was unable to stand or those who would prefer not to, would be entitled to a full refund from their original point of purchase.

Some fans were told the issue arose because a lorry carrying the seats had been held up getting to the Hydro.

But the organisers were bombarded with complaints from fans paying up to £250 a ticket about the move.

The stage level seating area was changed to standing only for last night's gig at the last minute.

Some older fans weren't able to stay on their feet throughout the concert and had to leave early.

The change was blamed on transport delays holding up equipment arriving at the venue an won't affect other shows.

Promoter Live Nation issued a statement saying: "On behalf of the promoter of the event we apologise for any frustration or disappointment this may cause and appreciate your understanding.

"On Tuesday 28 May Westlife’s Twenty Tour at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro suffered seating configuration adjustments due to the delay of production elements of the Twenty Tour arriving at the arena.

"This is a rare and isolated incident. The remainder of the Twenty Tour at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro and across the U.K. will not be subject to any further seating issues.

"Westlife are committed to delivering an unmissable show for their dedicated fans."
