The Liberal Democrats are now the UK's most popular party, a new poll suggests.

The YouGov survey for The Times puts support for the party at 24 per cent, with the Brexit Party close behind on 22%.

Labour and the Conservatives are in joint third place, with both on 19%.

The new indication of rising support for the Liberal Democrats comes after last week's European election, in which they secured 20% of the vote and won 16 MEPs.

Lib Dem MP Ed Davey said: “This is definitive proof that Lib Dems are back in the game.”
