THE death of a man in Glasgow at the weekend is being treated as murder, police have confirmed.

Paul Kelly, 50, from the Knightswood area of the city, was found with serious injuries in Hermitage Avenue, Knightswood, at around 10am on Saturday.

Emergency services attended but Mr Kelly died at the scene.

Following a post mortem examination, Police Scotland said they have now launched a murder inquiry.

Relatives are aware and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
A 46-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death and police enquiries are continuing.

Detective Inspector Steven Elliot at Govan Police Station said: “A man has lost his life in what I can only describe as a very violent attack.

“We are still trying to establish exactly what happened yesterday in Hermitage Avenue but are keen to speak to anyone who saw a man in the vicinity of Hermitage Avenue around the time Mr Kelly was assaulted.

"This man is described as white, in his 40’s, around 6ft tall, slim build and was wearing a black jacket and carrying a large orange carrier bag.  
 
“Anyone who may have seen this man or has any other information that could assist our enquires is asked to contact police at Govan CID via telephone number 101 quoting incident number I314 of 15 June 2019.”
