TRIBUTES have been paid to the teenage girl who died in an alleged hit-and-run in Paisley.

The 15-year-old was crossing Glenburn Road, near Fereneze Drive, at about 2am when she was struck by a black car.

The girl, who was with four friends, was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where she died a short time later.

She was identified locally as Robyn Fryar, and friends began paying their tributes to her.

Abigail Anna Ferguson said: "Never thought this would ever happen, especially to you, you’ve been my best friend and one on the only people who has stuck by me through everything.

"Your an amazing, unbelievable person who I never deserved to have in my life but you were my best friend and I’ll never find anyone like you.

"You were taken too soon and I’ll always miss you, thank you for everything. I love you."

Police believe one of the cars may have been a VW Polo, which was travelling towards Gleniffer Road alongside another car.

Police had been trying to trace the drivers of both vehicles.

Police have now confirmed a man, 20, has been arrested in connection with the alleged incident.

Also paying tribute was Ben Morrison, who wrote: "Taken far too soon, loveliest girl ever, rest easy Robyn you will be missed greatly by everyone."
