Police have confirmed a man has been arrested and charged after a police officer was hit by a flare last week during an Irish Republican march in Glasgow. 

The officer was taken to hospital after getting injured by the pyrotechnic on Clyde Street on September 7. 

Hundreds of riot police were at the scene of the march to deal with the Irish Republican group and Loyalist protest, during which eleven people were arrested.

A 32-year-old man has now been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.

A police spokesperson confirmed: "A 32-year-old-man has been arrested and charged in connection with an incident in which a police officer was injured after being hit by a pyrotechnic thrown in Clyde Street, Glasgow on 7 September 2019."
