A major road in Edinburgh has been closed after a collision between a bus and a truck sent the vehicles careering into a set of traffic lights.

Police and ambulance services rushed to the scene on Gorgie Road shortly after 2:30pm on Monday afternoon following the smash, with officers sealing the road off immediately.

The Scottish Ambulance Service said it had sent two ambulances to the scene but it is unclear if anyone has been seriously injured.

Images from the scene show the bus with the windscreen smashed in, and the van mounted between railings and the lights.

Officers remain on the scene while the damage is cleared, while one lane has been closed off to traffic.
