Problems on both providers appeared to begin just before 11am on Friday.

Users in the UK's major cities, including London, Birmingham, Glasgow and Edinburgh appear to be the hotspots for issues with TalkTalk.

But now, TalkTalk has confirmed the issue has been resolved and users should be back online.

A TalkTalk spokesman told The Herald: “We're aware that some customers were unable to access certain websites for a short period earlier today.

"The issue has now been resolved and we apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
