ONE PERSON who was told the self isolate after being traced to Margaret Ferrier is negative for coronavirus.
The person had been traced by authorities after the MP for Rutherglen admitted she was positive for the virus and had travelled on a train from London to Glasgow.
The House of Commons authorities last night confirmed that only one person had been identified as being in close contact with the MP, and they had been told to self-isolate, however today they confirm the individual has tested negative for Covid-19.
In a statement, they sad: "Further to our statement last night, we can confirm the individual identified through contract tracing as a close contact to Margaret Ferrier has tested negative for Coronavirus."
It is understood the person was an assistant sergeant-at-arms who had been standing close to Ms ferrier in the chamber on Monday.
Ms Ferrier has been suspended from the SNP and has reported herself to the police and parliamentary standards commissioner after she knowingly travelled on public transport while carrying the virus.
Nicola Sturgeon said at today's press conference she would not try to defend or explain the MPs actions, and reiterated her calls for her to resign.
Speaker Lindsay Hoyle castigated the MP in various broadcast interviews today. saying he was "very very angry" about what had happened.
He also said parliamentary rules will be reviewed to see if anything should be changed following the incident.
He told Sky News: "Of course like everything, after this serious breach, we will always review and check where we go in the future. But we know we have the best procedures in place, we know that we were COVID secure in that sense.
"But what I can never allow for is somebody who's going to break the rules, who should never have done that.
"People make mistakes. But there is something completely different where they act in a reckless manner that puts people at risk, the public on public transport, or even in Parliament. I have a deep concern for the members, but also for the staff that I've got to look after.
"This should never have happened, it's not acceptable and I certainly don't want a repeat of this in the future."
