A MAN has been taken to hospital following a serious crash on the M8 this morning.

Emergency services were called to the the scene this morning following a crash involving two vehicles at junction 19 of the M8 eastbound.

A car crashed directly into the back of a heavy goods vehicle. There is no obvious damage to the HGV, but the car's front has been completley crushed. 

Now it has been confirmed that a man was taken to hospital following the incident, but his condition remains unknown.

A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 9.58am to attend a road traffic collision (RTC) on the eastbound M8 near Junction 19.

"Our trauma team and a resuscitation rapid response unit where dispatched to the scene and a patient was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.”

A Police Scotland spokesman added: Around 10.05am on Tuesday 28 September, officers were called to a report of a two vehicle road crash on the eastbound M8 at junction 19.

"Emergency services attended and the carriageway was closed and re-opened around 11.30am. One man has been taken to hospital."

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service told The Herald that three of their vehicles were in attendance this morning.

The M8 eastbound was closed for emergency services responding to the crash, but it has since re-opened with traffic moving slowly. 

 

At the time there was no access to the Kingston Bridge and traffic was being diverted to the M74.
